This specific example is a Silver Spur Extended. The Spirit and Spur received the basic design of Silver Shadow, the Shadow’s 6.75L L410 V8, a GM-sourced THM400 3-speed automatic gearbox, and unitary bodywork manufactured by Pressed Steel. Silver Spirits and Spurs also have hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension with Girling automatic hydraulic ride height control systems and gas-charged shock absorbers.
This Silver Spur is finished in Light Oyster. For a massive vehicle, the paint is in decent shape, but not without flaws. There are chips in the paint above both headlights. Several chips in the gap between the hood and the body of the car, chips in the driver’s door, a sizable chip in the driver’s rear wheel arch, and a smaller chip in the passenger side rear door. The driver’s side front amber turn signal has cracked, and a piece of that glass has fallen out. There appears to be some bubbling underneath the vinyl roof, around the driver’s door handle, and at the bottom of the passenger side rear door. The chrome around the car appears to be straight, except for the chrome trim piece on the passenger side of the hood, which has bent itself out of place.
Shades of brown showcased across a wide variety of materials make this interior feel like a supremely opulent place to pass the time. The driver's seat shows more wear than the other seats, which is hardly surprising.
The car is powered by a 6.8L Rolls-Royce V8 mated to an automatic transmission.
This Silver Spur has had quite an eventful life. The car was registered in Pennsylvania in 1992. In 1993, the vehicle was reported stolen, given a salvage title due to a broken odometer, and subsequently recovered in New Jersey. In 1995 the vehicle was auctioned and remained in Pennsylvania. By 2000, the car had moved between New Jersey and New York. When it was inspected in 2010, the odometer read 56,561 miles. (Note that this may be inaccurate.) In March of 2011, the car was purchased by the seller.
This Rolls Royce Silver Spur is about as stately as it gets. This is a highly unique vehicle with a lot of character. There are quite a few scratches and chips to be dealt with on the outside, but if you can bring this Silver Spur back up to show quality, you will have a wonderful luxury vehicle from a bygone era that is sure to turn heads wherever you go.
