Background

The Porsche 997 - introduced in 2004 - represented evolution from its 996 predecessor rather than any major departure from its 911 DNA. The most significant changes were to the interior and exterior styling.

The 997 marked a welcome return to the 911's traditional oval headlights, and the interior too was more classically 911 than that of the outgoing 996.

The base 3.6-litre engine remained essentially the same as the Type 996's, while the more expensive 'S' models came with a more powerful 3.8-litre unit.

Introduced in 2010, the Turbo S was a fully optioned model equipped with the PDK dual-clutch gearbox and sports exhaust as standard.

It also featured re-engineered turbochargers and came with a mighty 530 horsepower on tap.

Overview

This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 9% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, as their proof of purchase.

This vehicle has been on static display for a number of years and the documented history available is limited to that displayed in our photography section.

We have not tried to start or drive the car, and cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

As CARS Europe BV is the guarantor of all customs duties and taxes for vehicles within Dutch customs bond, the car cannot be released to the buyer or transporter immediately after the sale. For all enquiries relating to Customs, please contact CARS Europe BV.

Purchases will only be released once cleared funds are received. All vehicles must be collected after the payment of funds. All storage charges must be paid in full prior to the vehicle’s collection or onward transportation.

Storage charges payment must be arranged with the storage company. Collection is strictly by appointment only.

Please send a booking email to the storage centre to ensure vehicle(s) are ready at time of collection. Photographic ID will be required at time of collection. If a third party is collecting for you, then written authorisation is required in advance from you and photographic ID of the third party is required at the time of collection. Collection either by buyer or third party is only possible for vehicles within customs bond if applicable import taxes paid are paid to import into country of bonded storage location.

As soon as The Market by Bonhams receives your payment, the accounts department will send a release note to the manager of the storage facility where your car(s) is stored.

CARS Europe BV will contact you just after the sale to confirm onward transport requirements. Direct contact at CARS for enquiries is as follows; Joanna Herlihy, +31 (0) 252 682 526, +44 7483 433912, [email protected].

STORAGE CHARGES - €30 + local VAT per motor car per day commencing from the sixth day following the auction end.

CUSTOMS CHARGES - €500 per motor car (plus applicable permanent import taxes from bond).

In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, the car comes with no history or service records.

We do not have a record of when it entered the vendor’s collection.

We cannot open the bonnet storage area to gain access to the car’s charging points.

Consequently, we’ve not connected an electrical supply to the car and therefore do not know its odometer reading.

With the proviso that we haven’t started or driven this car and can therefore only comment on its cosmetic condition, we think this 2011 911 Turbo S is in exceptional condition and has the appearance of a car that has seen very little use.

The chassis number is WPOZZZ99ZBS760682.

Exterior

This silver car with its yellow carbon-ceramic brake callipers looks very handsome and purposeful from every angle.

The paintwork is mainly bright, shiny and in possession of plenty of depth and lustre.

The bodywork looks to have no dinks, dents, creases or folds of significance that we can see.

The panels are straight and even.

The chrome work, lights and lenses are all as they should be.

The ‘Turbo S’ chrome badging is missing from the engine cover (you can see where it used to be).

All exterior rubber trim appears to be in good order.

The wheels are equally impressive.

There is a significant scratch across the top of the windscreen.

There are one or two small stone chips in the usual places – front valance, wheel arches, etc – but certainly fewer than you’d normally expect to find on a car that’s over 10 years old.

Interior

The interior of the car looks untroubled by either time or use and is dominated by red leather upholstery and carpets, alloy fixtures and fittings, and black carbon-fibre inserts.

There are just one or two insignificant marks on the front seat to remind you that this car has been used at some point.

Aside from a tiny nick to the leather next to the handbrake and a scratch on a (usually hidden) carbon-fibre insert at the passenger end of the dashboard, the interior is in virtually showroom condition.

The seats, front and back, look fine, as do the door cards, carpets, mats and headlining.

We can’t make any claims about the functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials or other electrics as we haven’t tried to start or drive the vehicle.

Mechanical

The undersides of this car look to have a good deal of structural integrity from what we can see.

The cleanliness and excellent general condition support our opinion that this car has seen very little use.

History

This car doesn’t come with any history or service records.

It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.

None of the paperwork shown in the gallery in any way constitutes any kind of licensing or registration certification.

Summary

Provided that the engine and mechanicals prove to be as good as the rest of this vehicle, then this 997 Turbo S looks more than capable of delivering the pedigree engineering, superb handling and thrilling driving experience for which these cars were justly famed.

We’re confident to offer this car for auction with an estimate of €50,000 - €100,000.
