Background
Harley Davidson created the Heritage Classic Softail in 2007 to bring classic Harley styling into the modern era without all the annoying leaks, difficult startup, and poor handling. Designed to mimic the appearance of hard tailed motorcycles of old, these models actually contain horizontal twin rear shock absorbers beneath the engine to dramatically improve ride quality. The beating heart of this bike is a 1,584cc 96 cu in air-cooled, 45-degree, pushrod V-twin engine. The engineers at Harley took a look at every piece of the engine and either improved or modified it, and the sum of those tweaks meant that this engine was like no other when it initially launched, and generally every power figure was improved upon.
