Background
The BMW R100 Series is a family of motorcycle produced by the German marque from 1976 to 1996. They were all powered by a 980cc two-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine. An R100 model became the first mass production motorcycle to be fitted with a frame fixed hull fairing, the innovation was a departure from previous touring fairings, and it ultimately led to the birth of the modern sport touring motorcycle. Importantly, this 1994 model was the final year that BMW made their infamous stored “air head” motorcycle engine, enthusiasts liken this engine to the unkillable Mercedes diesel of old.
