Wetherspoons up and down the country are filled with drawn and broken-looking men (and women) weeping salty tears of regret into their reasonably priced pints.

These are often people who have bought a ‘cheap’ Bentley only to find that it steals their wallet, beats them up and makes them homeless within 6 months.

Either way, and as ever, it’s a case of caveat emptor.

As with all Bentleys, the sage advice is to go for one where someone else has done all the heavy lifting and there’s a good, comprehensive service history in evidence.

Very much like this fine example, then.

Today the car is showing just shy of 54,000 miles on the odometer and comes in the unusual but (in our opinion) very distinctive and attractive shade of, we think, ‘Umbrian Red Pearl’.

The vendor has owned the car since 2021 and has used it sparingly, saving it mainly for occasional tours to Southern Europe.

The car has been stored as part of a concierge service which has attended to its ongoing needs and basic maintenance over the last couple of years.

To give you an idea of its overall condition and quality, the car has competed at a BDC Concours event.

The bodywork is straight and true, and there are no dimples, dinks or dents of any real note anywhere that we can see.

The panel gaps and shut-lines are consistent, even and everything you would want and expect of a vehicle of this quality.

The paint is in excellent order, too, and aside from a small stone chip at the front and a minor scuff at the rear, even entirely standard scratches and blemishes are far more noticeable for their absence than their presence.

The wheels are seemingly unacquainted with kerbs or other roadside hazards, and the matching Pirelli P-Zero tyres look to have a good amount of life left in them.

The chrome trim is fine all round, as are the lights, lenses, badging and all other exterior fixtures and fittings.

We noticed that the fuel filler cap is currently not playing by the rules and is rather reluctant to open or close as it should.

The interior, you won’t be remotely surprised to discover, is pretty much a match for its exterior counterpart.

Very few manufacturers can compete with Bentley when it comes to classy interiors, and this car’s cabin is a particularly elegant, opulent example of their craft skills.

The beige leather upholstery is in very fine condition and has only a few light creases here and there on the front seats.

It’s overall quality and condition is far more a reflection of the car’s low mileage than its age and testifies to the diligent care and curation the car would appear to have had throughout its life.

The door cards are following the same script in terms of preservation, as is the headlining.

So, too, are the carpets and mats.

The wood veneers on the dashboard, centre console and elsewhere are beyond reproach and lend the interior the entirely agreeable ambience of a private members club in St James.

All dials, instruments, levers and controls look good to us and, as far as we’re aware, everything does what it’s supposed to do.

The boot is as impressive as the rest of it.

There’s not much to see under the cowls and covers in the very full engine bay, but rest assured that underneath them resides a hugely potent twin-turbo 6-litre monster capable of propelling this highly capable beast to quite improbable speeds in next to no time.

The car’s undersides look to be possessed of oodles of structural integrity and nothing we’ve seen has given us any cause to shake our heads or tut.

The car comes with a consistently stamped-up service book, with the vast majority of stamps coming from Bentley main dealers.

It also comes with two sets of keys, a recent HPI report and an MoT that’s valid until September 2025.

We like Bentley Continental GTs.

They look great, they’re rather classy (when not in full footballer livery) and they go like an anxious cheetah at a fireworks display.

But you need to find a good one.
