Background
The Bentley Brooklands is as British as afternoon tea and cricket and cucumber sandwiches. Just mentioning the name echoes the best of British automotive engineering, from a time when luxury, refinement and understated class were paramount.
The large luxurious sports saloon was first launched in 1993 and continued the marque's offering of high quality motoring. The Brooklands replaced the outgoing Mulsanne saloon and was named after the famous oval race track in Surrey, where Bentley scored many victories during the glory days of racing in the 1920s and 1930s.
Powered by the venerable Rolls Royce 6.75 litre V8 engine, which was mated to a 4 speed automatic gearbox, the 2.4 tonne Brooklands could hit 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds and go on to a top speed of 135mph, which was very impressive for a full size luxury saloon and was a sign of Bentley’s desire to move away from the more waft-wagon image of the Mulsanne.
The example on sale here with The Market is a 1995 Bentley Brooklands that is finished in what is arguably the best colour combination of Peacock Blue over Magnolia.
