1976 Aston Martin V8

This V8 is from 1976, meaning it is a Series 3. These cars are distinguished by a taller hood scoop which is used to conceal four twin-choke Weber carburetors. The car produces roughly 288hp and has a manual transmission.

The car is painted a wonderful shade of metallic red, although documents suggest this car started life painted Cairngorm Brown. The paint has a number of flaws in several areas. The paint is well applied overall, but touch-up paint has been used to cover some scratches and the red touch-up paint does not match the rest of the car. The ill-fitting touch-up paint has been used in a total of seven different areas on the front of the car. Furthermore, a second touch-up paint was used that is darker than the body paint on the rear of the car as well. Paint on the trunk of the car is bubbling in a small area, and chrome on the rear bumper is peeling off and revealing corrosion underneath.

The interior to this Aston is not perfect. The black leather seats show very little creasing, no tears or holes are visible in either front seat and the rear seats look excellent. The passenger carpet is in proper shape, but the same cannot be said on the driver’s side. The driver’s carpet is missing which reveals a nasty bit of corrosion in the floorboards. There appear to be around five different holes all roughly the size of a nickel each. The wooden steering wheel and dashboard look clean. It would also appear that a previous owner added in a Medion stereo for everyday convenience.

This Aston Martin V8 is in good condition so it would be safe to assume there is no major damage underneath the car. However, judging by the driver’s floorboard, it would also be safe to assume that some degree of corrosion is present as well.

This car has extensive documentation. It was built to be US Spec instead of being converted, was shipped to Marietta, Georgia in August of 1976. It was purchased by its first owner in December of that same year and brought to San Antonio, Texas. Documents suggest the original color of this specific vehicle was Cairngorm Brown. In 2006, the car was in France. There are several French records of maintenance from that time. The seller acquired this Aston Martin in 2012.

The Aston Martin V8 is a wonderful car. A classic British sports car with muscular American design is a winning formula. This is not a turnkey car, but anyone with some prior restoration experience should have no problem getting this fine automobile back to excellent condition.

It should be noted that this vehicle has been on static display for a number of years and there is no history available beyond that displayed in our photography section.

We have not started or driven the car so cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.
