“ Fab Spec - Proper German Q Car ”

There are many, many ways to travel comfortably. Slightly fewer to travel in luxury, and fewer still if you want to add high-performance to the mix – and if you want reliability too, your options shrink dramatically.

Background

Audi had really got its eye in by the time it released the fourth-generation S6, with emissions regulations issuing a cease-and-desist on the Lamborghini-derived V10 used in the previous S6, Audi turned to Bentley to co-develop a new powerplant. The result was a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8—more efficient, more versatile, and no less capable. This engine would go on to power the Audi S6, S7, S8, and Bentley Continental GT, with shared architecture but distinct tuning for each brand.

Audi’s version, coupled with a 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox, focused on high-revving performance, supported by a compact “hot-vee” turbo layout that sharpened throttle response and improved packaging. Cylinder-on-demand technology allowed the engine to deactivate half its cylinders during light cruising, enhancing fuel economy without compromising refinement.

The S6 C7.5 wears its capability lightly. With subtle styling that blends into the A6 lineup, it’s a true sleeper—delivering 450 horsepower and 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds with effortless power. Adaptive air suspension and Audi Drive Select allow the car to shift character on demand, from composed cruiser to agile sports saloon.

Inside, the S6 offers a quiet, well-built cabin with high-grade materials, supportive leather seating, and thoughtful tech. All-round heated seats provide comfort in colder months, while a four-zone climate control system ensures a consistently pleasant environment. Apple CarPlay integration ensures seamless connectivity, and a retractable, 8-inch screen infotainment screen keeps the dash clean and uncluttered. The electric tilt/slide sunroof option featured in this example adds light and ventilation at the touch of a button. It’s spacious enough for daily use, refined enough for long journeys, and fast enough to surprise.

The Audi S6 C7.5 is a confident evolution—engineered with Bentley, designed for those who appreciate understated excellence.

Overview

Finished in Ibis White with a black leather interior, ‘KY66 OGT’ is a 2016 Audi S6 that’s loaded with all the options you’d hope to see, including four heated leather seats, a Bose Surround Sound music system with Audi’s smartphone interface, Carbon Atlas trim, a tilt ‘n’ slide sunroof, privacy glass, and High-beam Assist.

It's also very clean, and has a good service history and an advisory-free MoT until August next year.

One of the fastest and cheapest ways to transport your family reliably at high speed in all weathers, when it comes to performance saloons, the S6 is the thinking driver’s choice.

Exterior

The coachwork was made deliberately low key so as not to scare RS6 owners into buying the cheaper model.

But that’s fine because the S6’s top speed would be around 190mph if Audi hadn’t fitted an 155mph limiter; the S6 is a very, very fast car and its sober colours and lack of adornment allow you to fly under the radar, something your licence will thank you for.

This one is finished in Ibis White, colour code T9, and if you were to assume folk will mistake you for the Old Bill then you’d be right – and stealth driving doesn’t come any easier, faster, or safer than that, does it?

No colour is easier to keep looking good than white either, so it’s little surprise to see that the paintwork on this one is very good indeed with no production runs or flaws, and no scratches or other damage to the finish.

The underlying panels are all straight too, with ripple-free flanks and excellent alignment that makes itself known by way of Sharpie-tight shutlines; not for nothing is Audi a byword for production-line excellence.

The parking sensors are all in situ too, the headlamp washers tuck away neatly in the front bumper, and the lamp lenses are still like new, including the LED headlamps (PX2) that include High-beam Assist (8G1).

The glass tilt ‘n’ slide sunroof fits the aperture very well, and as you’d expect of such a young and well-maintained car, it slides fore and aft at the touch of a button as smoothly now as it ever has. The pop-up wind deflector also deploys automatically, as per spec.

The badges are all good and shiny, and the VW4 dark-tinted rear glass gives a we’ve-got-high-value-criminals-aboard vibe.

The door mirrors, which are unmarked, are option code 6XL, which you may remember translates as being heated, electrically adjustable, electrically folding, auto-dimming, and offering a kerb-view function; they’ll do everything you ask of them, therefore, except bring you a cup of tea in the morning.

Option code PQU translates as a set of rather nice 20-inch Rotor titanium-look alloy wheels, whose five-spoke design and two-tone colour scheme allows you to appreciate the red brake callipers that lurk behind.

They are completely free of kerbing damage, which is remarkable given the presence of 35-profile Pirelli P-Zero tyres all round. These were replaced in April 2021 and still have good tread.

We will never get tired of telling you that experience shows that matching high-quality tyres are an infallible sign of a caring and mechanically sympathetic owner who is prepared to spend the appropriate amount in maintaining their car properly.

The only flaws we can see are some very minor scratches to the silver window trim, and an air bubble in the rear window tint.

Interior

All four chequer-pattern leather seats are heated, with the front pair (option code Q4Q  ‘S Super Sport seats with S6 embossed logo’) being electrically controlled and offering adjustable under-thigh support.

The driver’s seat gets a memory function too, and the Valcona Black leather that’s used throughout the cabin is in a fine condition with nothing more than light creasing to the driver’s seat.

Legroom in the back is very good, and there is a good-sized armrest between the two outer seats. You could fit three abreast in reasonable comfort – and there is a headrest and seatbelts for the centre passenger – but it would be better to view this S6 as a luxurious, long-distance grand touring car for four.

The fat-rimmed leather-and-suede steering wheel looks as good as it feels , and the flappy paddles that lie behind give the driver a manual override of the seven-speed S-tronic gearbox.

The driver can also access any of the four standard Drive Select modes: Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, and Individual. These modes adjust steering feel, throttle response, engine sound, and suspension stiffness.

The dashboard is as clean and thoughtfully designed as every Audi of the period, Apple CarPlay is available via the Bose Surround Sound system, and we are told that everything works as it should.

Another option is Carbon atlas inlays (5MK), which cover the centre console, door trims, and dashboard. This, along with the headlining, carpets, door cards, dashboard, controls, and instruments, is as good as you’d expect, with barely any signs of wear.

Even the netting pockets are still nicely elasticated and firm, including those in the vast and very well-maintained boot. The luggage space also contains a space-saver spare wheel and a warning triangle.

Mechanical

The service history and routine maintenance is recorded as follows:

  • 15.07.2025 and 67,187 miles – fresh rear differential oil by OF-Carz Ltd
  • 30.07.2024 and 65,950 – fresh gearbox oil by Southend Audi
  • 23.01.2024 and 63,852 miles – service by Southend Audi
  • 30.03.2023 and 59,324 miles – service and fresh brake fluid by Southend Audi
  • 08.04.2022 and 52,467 miles – service by Southend Audi
  • 26.04.2021 and 48,534 miles – service by Swindon Audi plus four new 255/35R20 Pirelli P-Zero tyres
  • 18.08.2020 and 42,624 miles – service by Swindon Audi
  • 08.11.2019 and 38,081 miles – new brake pads and discs all round by Automax
  • 03.09.2019 and 36,963 miles – service by Swindon Audi including fresh brake fluid and gearbox oil
  • 23.03.2019 and 30,796 miles – service by Swindon Audi including air-conditioning and four new tyres
  • 21.04.2018 and 15,602 miles – service by Swindon Audi
  • 18.11.2017 and 12 miles – pre-delivery inspection by Swindon Audi

The twin-turbo V8 engine starts as efficiently as you’d expect, with the dials doing a little happy dance to celebrate the occasion.

It idles at a rock-solid 700rpm and revs every bit as you’d expect of an engine with a pedigree like this. The engine itself is nicely muted, with little more than a hard-edged grumble but the exhaust system varies from neighbour-friendly to full-bore ASBO depending on your mood.

The chassis sends 60% of the available torque to the rear wheels, rising to 80% when needed, making the S6 as enjoyable to drive as it is safe. Engaging Dynamic mode sharpens things up nicely and opens a flap in the exhaust for an even beefier exhaust note.

Comfort is also available, which softens everything including the steering, with Auto being a compromise between the two.

The engine bay is pretty much spotless, with the contrast between the Ibis White metalwork and the anthracite plastics giving it a clean, minimal appearance.

As for the underside, it is clean and fastidiously maintained as everything else.

History

The Audi’s MoT, which is valid until August 2026, was issued with no advisories. In fact, it’s had a clear run since 2021 bar an overly diligent tester commenting on the presence of a child seat last year.

The recent Vehicle History Check is clear, and the S6 comes with two key fobs.

The history file includes the Audi wallet and book pack, a bunch of invoices and MoT certificates, and a certificate for the application of a glass coating in April 2019.

The seller bought it only recently, thinking it would be an upgrade from his RS4 Avant. However, he quickly realised he missed the panoramic sunroof – and his dog missed the boot.

Luckily, he hadn’t yet sold his RS4, so did the sensible thing and decided to sell the new one and keep the old.

Summary

There are many, many ways to travel comfortably. Slightly fewer to travel in luxury, and fewer still if you want to add high-performance to the mix – and if you want reliability too, your options shrink dramatically.

The Audi S6 is one of the rare cars that’ll do it all – and it’ll do it all no matter what the weather, which leaves it in a vanishingly small subset.

And all this, along with that peerless service history that makes itself felt by way of an advisory-free MoT, could be yours for between £16,000 and £20,000, a price that’s as bonkers as its performance.
