Overview

This motor car is being sold as part of an overseas collection. It has been imported under the Bonhams temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to the lower rate 5% import tax if the car is to remain in the UK & purchased by a private individual. The 5% is calculated on the final selling price. For example, if the car sells for £2,000, then £100 is added, making the total amount payable of £2,100. A company purchasing the car will have to pay dute + VAT in addition to VAT on the hammer.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, and proof that HMRC fees are paid. If the car is subsequently exported abroad within 30 days then these fees are refundable.

Lastly, there will be a nominal administration fee of £250 for processing the NOVA application, and payable direct to the shipping company. A completed and processed NOVA will provide you formal proof that all duties & taxes are paid in UK and thus allow you to register the vehicle with the DVLA

In common with the majority of cars in this collection, this vehicle has been on static display for a number of years and there is no history available beyond that displayed in our photography section.

We have not started or driven the car so cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

It is available for view and inspection at our HQ near Abingdon and we will be delighted to show the car to you and/or your appointed engineer.

The LHD 2-door sports/GT coupé we have with us today comes with no history or provenance whatsoever.

We know that it is one of a number of DB4GT ‘homage’ creations that went by the name of ‘Ravana Z’ and were built in the US by (probably) a business called ‘Classic Sports Cars’.

The cars featured fibreglass moulds and Chevy V8 crate engines mated to a donor C3 Corvette chassis – in this instance dating from 1976 and carrying the VIN number 1Z37L6S438036.

The engine, we think, is Chevy’s small block ZZ4 350 cu in unit, which in some variants is good for 355bhp and 405lb-ft of torque.

The gearbox is manual.

We can only imagine that a lightweight fibreglass car with that much grunt under the bonnet might be quite brisk.

We can’t say for sure because, as with the other cars in this vendor’s collection, we haven’t tried to start or drive it and, consequently, our opinions are confined to the car’s cosmetic condition.

We know that it entered the vendor’s collection of static display vehicles some time in 2014.

The odometer reads just 38 miles.

Exterior

Unsurprisingly, there are no dents, dinks or instances of corrosion in the fibreglass bodywork.

It all looks very shiny and smooth.

Most of the panel gaps and shut lines are consistent and even, although the bonnet lid isn’t quite flush with its surrounds and some paint has rubbed away where the bonnet touches the bodywork when opening and closing.

The wire wheels are in excellent condition, as is most of the car’s exterior trim.

There are a few stone chips inside the o/s headlamp cowl.

There is a small area of delamination at the bottom of the windscreen on the o/s.

All other ‘glass’ on the car is, in fact, weight-saving plastic, and it appears to be in fairly decent condition.

Interior

The inside is basic and functional, with parts of it having a rather unfinished look – as if, perhaps, the car is a project that never quite reached completion. We’re just guessing.

In general, though, it’s all really pretty good.

The seats are upholstered in soft brown leather. They are comfortable, supportive and in very good condition.

The door cards, transmission tunnel, carpets, dashboard and leather headlining are all good, too, although some of the interior trim around the rear luggage shelf looks a little rough and ready.

The centre boss on the steering wheel is missing and the exposed metal underneath is now carrying a coating of surface rust dust.

We can’t make any claims about the functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials or other electrics as we haven’t tried to start the vehicle.

The boot is occupied entirely by a big aluminium fuel tank. There is a chip in the bodywork on the inner boot lid surround on the o/s.

Lifting up the carpets anywhere in this car reveals…nothing to worry about.

Mechanical

Everything looks solid and sound underneath and there’s no rust to speak of anywhere.

The engine and engine bay are clean and dry. The air intake/filter seems to be missing from its place on top of the carburettors.

History

The car comes with no history or service record.

It has neither an MoT certificate nor a V5.

If you’d like to inspect the car prior to placing a bid – something we would encourage – then please use the Contact Seller button to arrange an appointment.

Summary

We haven’t tried to start or drive the car so our understanding of it is somewhat one dimensional.

All we can say is that, cosmetically, it seems to be in decent condition.

Provided, of course, that the car’s engine and mechanicals prove to be in good working order, we think this could be fast, fun, good value and a real talking point.

We’re confident to offer this car for auction with an estimate of £2,000 - £5,000, plus Bonhams bond payment and £250 NOVA fee.

Viewing is always encouraged, within government guidelines of course. The car is located at our Abingdon headquarters; we are open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and to arrange an appointment please use the ‘Contact Seller’ button at the top of the listing. Feel free to ask any questions or make observations in the comments section below or try our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’.
