“ A lovely Limited Edition two-litre example of the famous marque, from long term ownership, presenting well and offered without reserve ”

This 1992 Alfa Romeo 75 2.0 LE is a late-production example of the final “true” Alfa. Coming from an 11-year hibernation, the time-warp Italian classic is ready to be enjoyed once more.

Background

The Alfa 75 holds a special, almost sacred place in history: it’s the last truly independent Alfa Romeo built before the Fiat era. Because of that, it earned a formidable reputation as a pure driver’s car with genuine racing pedigree.

This 1992 Twin Spark 2.0 is arguably one of the best versions of the lot, perfectly blending Italian engineering artistry with something you can actually use every day.

Under the bonnet is Alfa's brilliant 1,962cc DOHC Twin Spark four-cylinder, punching out around 148 bhp, giving the 75 TS truly lively performance. But the real magic is underneath: a rear-mounted five-speed transaxle, near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution, and those distinctive inboard rear disc brakes, all working together to deliver a driving experience that’s miles away from the average family saloon of the time. Hitting 60 mph in just over eight seconds and capable of nearly 130 mph, the 75 TS gives you that elusive balance and involvement that enthusiasts crave.

As the final traditional rear-wheel-drive Alfa saloon, the 75 Twin Spark is rapidly becoming a collector's item. Enthusiasts love its raw, analogue driving feel, its motorsport-inspired engineering, and its rarity on today’s roads. Don't miss this fine opportunity to snap up a late-production example of what many hail as the last true Alfa Romeo.

Overview

This beautiful 1992 Alfa Romeo 75 2.0 LE, one of the last 3,500 to be manufactured, has a fantastic story to tell. Recently pulled from an impressive 11-year stint in dry storage, it had previously been housed and cared for at Big M Auto’s showroom in Welling, Kent. With the premises now being let, its owner has decided the time has come to offer this classic Alfa to a new custodian.

Showing just over 88,000 miles, the car presents in fine mechanical health. It has recently benefited from sailing through its current MoT test with ease, earning a clean bill of health and making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

The interior carries a bespoke touch that sets this example apart. The seats, believed to be Recaro, are expertly retrimmed in grey leather, complemented by contrasting red piping and an embroidered Alfa Romeo logo on both the front and rear. This tasteful upgrade fitted to LE cars not only enhances comfort but also ties beautifully with the car’s exterior finish, lending a unique sense of style and exclusivity.

Celebrated as the final “true” Alfa Romeo before Fiat’s acquisition, the 75 remains one of the marque’s most charismatic saloons. The Twin Spark 2.0-litre engine delivers spirited performance, paired with the rear-mounted transaxle gearbox and inboard rear brakes for superb balance and handling – a setup that has become legendary among enthusiasts.

Well cared-for, mechanically sorted, and boasting a distinctive interior finish, this late-production 75 Twin Spark represents an exciting opportunity to acquire a usable, engaging, and increasingly collectible Alfa Romeo classic.

Exterior

What better shape to display the wonderful late-80s styling from design icons Alfa Romeo! The straight lines and boxy looks give the 75 a stunning, aggressive look that's perfectly suited to the Italian classic.

Finished in what is probably the best colour for any Alfa Romeo, the Rosso Alfa 130 paintwork is thought to be original and presents exceptionally well. From the front, stone chips are minimal; the lower spoiler and grille are in good order. Both lower foglights are free from damage, as are the Carallo headlights and the clear indicators.

Moving to the sides, the sharp, straight lines are uninterrupted by any dings or dents; the side skirts and black mouldings fit well, and the panel gaps appear to be equal. All of the window trims look to be in good condition with no blistering visible. A set of genuine Alfa Romeo wind deflectors is fitted to the front doors, and all of the windows appear to be free from any noticeable or excessive scratches. Opening up the interior to some extra light, the electric sunroof is operating correctly.

At the rear, the black side moulding continues around to the boot lid and forms a subtle spoiler. The all-red rear lights are a nice touch against the Rosso Alfa paintwork and are free from any splits or cracks. The bumper is in good order and has the rear valance fitted to match the side skirts.

Fitted with a set of factory Speedline “Pepperpot” alloy wheels, these are in good condition with just a minor amount of surface corrosion in a couple of places, but nothing excessive. The tyres are a matching set of Yokohama S305, all of which have a good amount of tread remaining.

Interior

Taking you straight back to 1992, the interior in the Alfa is excellent. The front seats look to be a Recaro option, which was available at the time. These large bolster seats hold you tightly and are super comfortable. Retrimmed in grey leather and finished with red piping and embroidered Alfa Romeo logos on the front and rear, all the seats are in excellent condition.

Sitting behind the leather wheel, which is also in good order with minimal signs of age, looking across the dashboard, this is free from any splits, cracks, or noticeable damage. The instruments are all working correctly, and the odometer shows 88,110 miles. All of the switchgear appears to be in good order. The original radio cassette is in place, and everything is working correctly as reported by the vendor.

Throughout the cabin, the carpets are in good condition with no real signs of age; the headlining is in good condition, although the sunroof headlining panel material has sagged a very small amount. Inside the boot area, it is clean and tidy like the rest of the interior and has the factory decals inside the boot lid.

Mechanical

Sitting neatly within the well-presented engine bay, the 2.0-litre (1,962cc) four-cylinder engine produces approximately 150 bhp and around 134 lb-ft of torque.

Firing up without hesitation, the revvy 2.0-litre fires into life with a beautifully sounding exhaust tone and runs as it should, with no issues reported by the vendor.

Fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox, this drives the rear wheels to make for an engaging drive in a well-balanced car with a near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution. The gear change is smooth, and the Alfa pulls well through the gears.

Sitting pretty, the Alfa looks fantastic from all angles and sits just right. On the road, there are no knocks or bangs from the suspension, and it comes to a stop in a straight line, as you would expect.

Looking at the underside, there is some surface corrosion on a few of the suspension components, as you would expect, but this is only a small amount when you consider the car is now in its 33rd year.

History

Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history file.

The original service booklet contains an impressive 17 service stamps, charting the car’s maintenance right up until it was placed into storage in 2014. In addition, there are numerous invoices documenting servicing and parts fitted over the years, further demonstrating the care this Alfa has received.

Also included are the owner’s manual, a selection of previous MoT certificates, and a nostalgic stack of old tax discs. The car’s most recent MoT, valid until 10th September 2026, was passed with no advisories, underlining the excellent mechanical condition and readiness of this 75 Twin Spark.

It is also worth noting that the car does have an immobiliser fitted for extra security.
